Flat Christa off To CHA

Flat_christa_cha2006

Here is "Flat Christa" mailed off to my talented friend Deb Perry who is going to take me and Nancy to  CHA in Chicago this coming weekend. Sixteen of my great buddies are going and have decided to take "Flat Stanley" versions of those of us who are not able to attend. This is going to be a riot as we wait to see photos and hear stories of what went on.
I made myself out of cardstock attached to cardboard and wrapped it with metal tape. I drew designs into the silver tape, added flower chopsticks to the bottom to hold on to, and made a pen holder on the back. I am going to have my 16 HOF HM 2005 buddies and anyone else autograph the flat me. I put a return envelope and postage in the package to Deb so I can get Flat Christa back to put in my art studio. Thanks girls and I am looking forward to a fun time!!! Enjoy yourselves!

Sandy, Paul, and Bella!!

PlaneSandy_me_at_shopping_centerCan you believe after 16 years I found my old friend?!?!?!
Sandy and I used to hang out together. We met at a girl scout high adventure camp where we bunked together. The camp was a lot of scary fun- nothing like climbing a mountain side and rappelling off, going spelunking (sp?) and crawling through bat poop and mud in a dark cave for hours, swallowing tons of river water while with water rafting, and taking freezing cold showers.
Sandy moved around a lot but we were able to keep in touch for 4 years through high school- writing letters where we decorated the backs of the envelopes til there was no white space left.
After finding Sandy I called her and we hit it off like we haven't missed a beat. She is so awesome and is married to a great guy- Paul and they have an awesome yellow lab- Bella. Paul made his famous Italian sauce with homemade meatball and some spicy Italian sausage for dinner and also his secret fried shrimp. Both were delicious! I found out his "secrets" and plan to make them myself!! heheeee
Sandy and I chatted and chatted for hours. We also visited Ann Arbor one afternoon and dined on some tasty seafood. On every corner in Ann Arbor seemed to be a painted fire hydrant.  Ours in NC are just plain so I thought that was pretty cool.
I am hoping they will move to NC. Then we would be able to get together often!!! Miss ya Sandy!!! Had a GREAT visit!

Melissa_christa_shoppingI took a trip up to Michigan the weekend before school started and was able to spend the day with my friend Melissa. I have known her over 2 years and we finally got to meet up! She is so much fun and such the tiny little thing! Can you say- size 0-2!!!! I look like a moose next to her LOL! We shopped, ate lunch, laughed, shopped, ate ice cream, laughed, looked at a 20D camera, and got rained on. I was so happy she was able to drive down to spend the day with me! can't wait to see ya again M!!!!!! :-) Melissa_christa_at_ice_cream_shop

Lisa Renea

One of my funny and good friends, Lisa Renea, always makes the cutest cards and artist trading cards (ATC's). She made me this cool layered and embellished paper doll card since she knows I am a girly girl!  I just wanted to show off her talent a bit along with some of the ATC's I have from her- thanks girlie!! You rock! Lisaatc2Lisa_atc1Lisa_paper_doll_card

Cheesecake Factory

While Helen and Bill went to a local car show at the fairgrounds and Hunter rocked the day away playing the bass with his friends, mDee_and_christachfactoryy good friend and neighbor Dee and I lunched at The Cheesecake Factory. She is such a hoot! Dee loves anything Italian and even lives in Italy for a month every year. I love to see her zip by my house on her Italian Vespa....just wish I could catch that on film! I love how Dee has eye glasses to match her outfits! Ali E. posted a sweet thing about Dee on her blog recently...link.

Have you ever tried fried macaroni and cheese balls? oohhh were they a GOOD appetizer! I saw them on the Food Network but the Factory used a scooper to make large balls that were fried. Here is the Food Network's Fried Macaroni and Cheese Recipe. Dee had crab cakes and I had fish tacos...of course some cheesecake for dessert. We also swung by Ornamentea on the way home- a must see for crafters/bead freaks.

Ribbon Belt

What a surprise when Helen came home and gave me this from my good friend Betsy! She sees her frequently at school since Betsy is the strings teacher there....she made me the coolest ribbon belt!!!!! Awesome! Thanks!! BTW- Betsy is an AWESOME knitter and wins the award for the most small kitchen appliances!! Love ya girl!Betsy_ribbon_belt
